Flint Lockwood now works at The Live Corp Company for his idol Chester V. But he's forced to leave his post when he learns that his most infamous machine is still operational, and is churning out menacing food-animal hybrids.
After Flint Lockwood made food fall from the sky with the FLDSMDFR, and then there were food hurricanes, now he is working at Live Corp with his hero, Chester V. But suddenly, Flint realizes that the FLDSMDFR created living food. And they are invading Swallow Falls. And Flint has to go back to Swallow Falls and shut down The FLDSMDFR before it's deadly food creatures take over the world.
This movie is funny and has incredible animation. That being said, the story is a bit weak and contradictory. Its not great, but its watchable.
After a brief recap of its 2009 predecessor, this fun little sequel picks up right where the first film left off. Citizens of Swallow Falls have been relocated while the island is being cleaned, with Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader) being given a position at his hero Chester V&#39;s (Will Forte) corporation, only to return to Swallow Falls to find the leftover food has come to life! This installment introduces some fun creatures… or… &quot;foodimals&quot;; particularly, Barry and his strawberry companions (and one blueberry companion), who you&#39;ll find adorable. May not be as good as the first (what else is new?), but there&#39;s no doubt that a third film is more than welcome! Mr. T&#39;s voice is replaced by Terry Crews.<br/><br/>*** (out of four)
This sequel strenuously works to form a total inversion of the first movie's relationship with food.
Unlike the first movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 is based on an original idea by Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Although the characters are based on a children&#39;s book by Judi Barrett—Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, which is followed by Pickles to Pittsburgh released in 2000. The only noticeable story element between this movie and Pickles to Pittsburgh is a return to the island after the previous big food disaster. Some but not all of the food-animal&#39;s were given names during the film, some that were either heard or seen include Cheese Spider, Shrimpanzee, Hippotatoes, Melonphant, Subwhale, Banana Ostriches, Flamangos, Jelly-fish, and Tacodiles. The first movie was based on a book with the same title by Judi Barrett. The writer released two more books: Pickles to Pittsburgh in 2000 and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 3: Planet of the Pies in 2013. Thus, there&#39;s a chance that Flint&#39;s story will be continued in cinematic form. Also, the director of the movie Cody Cameron has stated that they have the intention and many ideas for the third movie, and that everything would depend on the studio&#39;s decision.
